A big problem that a lot of us have in social situations is that we put way too much pressure on them. We think that it will be the end of the world if the job interview is messed up, the date request fails, the speech is a disaster, etc. This brings me to my tip for today:
MINGLE TIP #17: LOWER STRESS BY COUNTING YOUR BLESSINGS
Most likely, nobody is going to die if a social situation does not go well. There may be some future children that don't get born if you aren't successful, but that's about it.
The reality is that there is a large percentage of people in the world who have it much worse than you do. I am not trying to say that your circumstances are always easy, but there are some people in the world whose lives are in danger every day. So be grateful.
The next time you are getting stressed out about your presentation at work, or about that big date that you have coming up, just remember how good you really have it. No matter what happens, you have a lot going for you. The success or failure of your social interaction isn't going to change that.
