Okay, so you have been following my mingle advice and you are now getting comfortable with talking to strangers. You are casual and relaxed about it, but you are still not sure when it's time to give up on someone as a possible connection. This leads me to my tip for today:
MINGLE TIP #93: KNOW WHEN TO CUT YOUR LOSSES
No matter how wonderful you are, there will inevitably be people that do not connect well with you. Don't feel like you have to hang around if it becomes clear that there is no vibe there. Feel free to politely leave the conversation. Here are some thoughts:
(1) There is nobody in the world that everyone likes. So you met someone who doesn't connect with you. So what. Consider it information gained, not a personal insult.
(2) There is nobody in the world that is attractive to everyone. Similar to the previous point, don't be crushed if you meet someone who is not attracted to you. It happens to everyone. It may happen to some people more often than it does to others, but there is nobody in existence who attracts every single person they meet.
(3) Don't consider it a failure if you don't click with someone. Like I have said before in earlier posts, talking to people should not be about succeeding or failing to impress them. You are simply finding out if the two of you get along well.
(4) Trust your instincts if you feel like persistence might help. This is not something that I would suggest that you practice on a regular basis. Sometimes a little persistence may work, though. Just don't overdo it if you feel like you are starting to get annoying.
So, there you have it. Talk to strangers as much as possible. If you are single and you feel a good vibe, consider asking for contact information. Persist if you are moved to do so. Just don't hesitate to give up if it becomes clear that there is nothing there.
