There are a lot of "rules" when it comes to dating. Some are helpful, some aren't. One of the more well known rules addresses how long you should wait before you call someone that you just met. That brings me to my tip for today:
MINGLE TIP #54: FORGET THE "WAIT TWO DAYS BEFORE CALLING" RULE
The idea behind waiting for two days before calling is that you don't want to look too desperate, so you better wait awhile to make yourself look cool before you call. Whatever. This is one of the most overrated dating tips of all time. Here are a few reasons why:
(1) It's not that big of a deal. You are just hanging out and you happen to meet someone that you want to see again later. No big deal. There is no need to worry about perfecting every little detail at this point.
(2) There is no need to play games. If you feel a good vibe then there is nothing wrong with calling or texting her the next day (or the same day if you met early enough) . The world won't come to an end if you do and you won't ruin your chances.
(3) You aren't fooling anyone. Everybody knows about this rule. You aren't doing anything impressive if you follow it.
(4) You don't want to wait so long that she forgets the good connection you had. If you met someone and got along well, keep that good vibe going and get in touch soon.
So, there you have it. If you meet someone and you want to get together soon, feel free to get in touch whenever you feel like it's reasonable. Two days later, one day, one hour, whatever. Don't feel like the timing in which you get in touch again is so important that it can make or break your chances of success. It's just not that big a deal.
UPDATE: (5) Not waiting exactly two days before calling shows that you are willing to go against the crowd. This is always a good thing.
