Okay, so you have followed some of my advice and you met someone nice. You exchanged phone numbers and you have agreed to get together sometime. The question now is, where do you go? This leads me to my tip for today:
MINGLE TIP #86: CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLACE TO GO FOR THE FIRST DATE
The best place to go for a first date often depends on who you are going with. Here are some thoughts:
(1) Figure out a place to go in person, if possible. Figuring out a place that you both like ahead of time and agreeing to go there always makes the follow up phone call/text easier. This is not a requirement, but it is much better than just agreeing to hang out sometime in general.
(2) Don't go overboard. The old fashioned way of meeting someone and making a date was to go out to a fancy dinner. This is no longer the case. Dinner at a reasonable restaurant should be okay, just be careful not to go overboard.
(3) Keep it short. This is especially true if you were only able to talk for a few minutes the first time you met. There is nothing wrong with having coffee or a meal together for the first date, just avoid making a big production out of it. Making a full day out of dinner, a movie, a picnic, a long walk, etc. is probably not the best way to go for the first time out.
So, there you have it. If you have made a connection and managed to get contact information then you have already done a lot of hard part. Now just plan an appropriate and comfortable place to go for a date and you will soon be on your way a great experience.
