If you want to make people uncomfortable really fast, then keep asking them question after question in a social situation. I think that everyone has experienced this kind of person before, and it is not pleasant. The person may have even been you. This brings me to my mingle tip this week:
MINGLE TIP #4: DON'T ASK A MILLION QUESTIONS
Here are some thoughts:
(1) Don't ask so many questions that it feels like a job interview. Nobody wants that. Unless it is the actual situation, a job interview vibe is the last thing that you want to experience. Talk about boring!
(2) Having a "hang-out" attitude is hard if you are constantly asking questions. This thought relates to one of my earlier posts about looking like a try hard. Asking question after question makes it look like you are trying as hard as you can to make the person like you. This is not a good message to send, of course.
(3) The best kind of conversations happen when both people are asking questions, making statements, telling stories, etc. So, mix these things in as you have conversations. Don't get into a rut of using just one of these types of comments. Make an effort to learn about a person's interests, but whatever you do, don't be the person with terrible social skills who just keeps asking......and asking.......and asking......
